B.E.S.T. in Baking
As part of a commitment to positive transformation in the world, the International Baking Industry Exposition, together with Snack Food & Wholesale Bakery, has identified sustainability as one of the industry’s top priorities. The vision is to recognize suppliers and bakeries* that foster energy conservation, reduced water usage, a decrease in landfill waste, healthy living and/ or a reduction of the overall impact on the environment. IBIE 2016 Exhibitors can submit entries in the following categories:
Ingredients that improve sustainability in agricultural sourcing, renewability, processing of the ingredient, improving bakery process efficiency, and facilitating clean labels
Bakery and warehouse equipment that improve sustainability in manufacturing of the equipment, implementation of sanitary design principles, improving bakery process efficiency, minimizing energy and resources, and facilitating clean labels
Packaging materials that improve sustainability in sourcing of materials, minimizing production and distribution energy and resources, and streamlining recycling or composting
Logistics solutions like computer hardware and software, facility design, and fleet management that improve bakery sustainability initiatives
Also, new this year, IBIE will be recognizing bakeries in the following categories:
- Wholesale Bakery (less than $50 million)
- Wholesale Bakery ($50 million +)
- Retail Bakeries
The coveted B.E.S.T. in Baking designation brings with it a bevy of benefits including mentions in pre-show promotions, trade press, IBIE’s social media channels, plus a dedicated B.E.S.T. in Baking Lounge located in the Las Vegas Convention Center lobby, where all show attendees can learn about the winners while taking a few moments to relax and recharge.
A panel of judges that include experts in sustainability and baking best practices will evaluate submissions based on for environmental impact, innovation, feasibility, ROI and practical application to the baking industry. The deadline to submit an application is July 1, 2016.

*Bakery entrants must be registered and present at IBIE 2016 to win the award. Applications for suppliers must be 2016 exhibitors to be considered.
